Conflicting info on 7mm RUM loads 180 VDL

I have a stock Sendero 7mm RUM that I am developing some loads for and I see some very differnt safe load levels...what to trust?

I just got some Retumbo and Berger 180 VDLs, The hogdon book shows a 175 bullet and max 91.5G while Berger sent me a 82-86gr range for theirs?
5.5 Grain difference for 5 grains of bullet???

Any thoughts on what I should load 4?

I have noticed that the berger load data is pretty conservative (I have heard others say the same thing) IMR powder for 175gr. bullets says max of 91.5 running retumbo like you stated. If I were you i would start out at 89gr. or so. Just telling you what I would do others might do it differently.

Berger sent me the load data on the .25cal 115gr vld's I ended up 5gr's over there max to get the same fps that thay were geting. same thing with H1000.

With the same 58g H4831 in my 270win, Accubonds shoot 150fps faster than the Bergers. I have never been able to live up to thier loads either. Must have something to do with the vdl design and program they use to calculate it.

They sure shoot nice though.

I hope to end up around 90-91g of retumbo and 3000fps

85-91 in 1 gr increase is kinda what I was thinking.

you should be well in excess of 3000 with anything over 85 gr of Retumbo.

My buddy has a 30 Hart and I reload for him. 86gr of Retumbo in that baby is getting us a measured 3150 mv.

I know its kinda apples-oranges, but just my $0.02

That's a nice little monkey wrench...maybe I will start with the 82-86 loads....does anybody load a 7mm Rum Sendero 26" any hotter?

Re: Conflicting info on 7mm RUM loads 180 VDL

Well, I got what I wanted...

Only posting this because, there is so little info on 7mmRUM

Berger 180VDL 3.95COAL(100th off my lands lol,any more was too far imo)
88 deg
26.77press/3022ft
18%rh

82G Retumbo =2789
83G 2850
84G 2919
85G 2962,2997,2998
85.3 2915, 2944, 2933
85.7 3006,2990, 2972
86.0 3039, 3003, 2931

Groups were 1-2" at 200Y best were 85.3/86.0

The last 2931 surprised me, the first two were touching then this last one came in an inch low....

Going to load up some 86's at several different legnths and call it good if they turn out well.
