Re: Cleaning

I don't know what's right or wrong but I have a new barrel that has been shooting like crap lately. Went out this morning and had 3" groups at 200. Came home disgusted and decided to clean the crap out of it and go back out. I ran patches and nylon brushes thru it for half an hour. Still had the carbon lines on the patch. Finally figured what the heck and grabbed a metal brush. Dipped it solvent and shoved it in, pulled it back and could feel, smooth smooth tick tick tick smooth smooth smooth. Hmmm feels like the rifling is hosed up. Did it again and you could feel it for about 12" in the middle of the barrel. I'm thinking "jeezus now I have a hosed up $400 barrel. "
I ran the brush thru it some more with nothing getting better so against my better judgement I reversed direction mid stroke and swabbed the barrel for a good minute. Slicker than butter on a cats @@@ now. Don't know if I ruined it or made it better, but whatever was in there is now gone.

I think I'm switching to Mike's Camp A.
