No, not the vee-blocks; they are anodized with a smooth satin finish.
The 'arm' that sticks inside the case (I believe the instruction manual referred to it as a 'chord') tapers slightly towards the end, and then has a right angle bend in it, after which it is flattened out and squared off. The best I can describe it is it looks like a little miniature garden hoe!
The portion where it makes the bend and is flattened out was pretty roughly formed, and had some sharp edges to it; sharp enough that they would dig into the soft brass case walls with a minimal amount of pressure. I took an abrasive flap-wheel chucked in my Dremel to soften the edges, etc. and then took a felt cone w/ polishing compound to it after that. It's not *perfectly* smooth, but it's not near as sharp edged and the cases can actually 'roll' past the points of the tip without catching.
Hope that explains it a little better.
