Case stuck in die. Help Please.

While trying to resize 1x brass in a redding bushing die I have stuck the brass. I can remove the pin.I thought of sticking a small screwdrivr don inside the brass and hammering it out. Any other ideas? This die is real hard to work with this way. I've sprayed brass with one shot and also use redding neck lube but the brass is very hard to run into the die> I also have an RCBS die and it sizes with no problem. Any ideas? Thank's, Brad

Well if you don't have a stuck case extractor you can try a few things. First go put the die in the freezer to shrink the metal a bit.

Next get out your drill and tap set. Drill out the primer pocket and tap the hole for a bolt larger than the primer you need all the bite you can get.

At this point you have a few options, lock the die in your bench vise and try pulling the case out with some vise grips from the bolt or. If you have a grinder cut the bold head off so you just have a threaded rod. Spin a nut on with some over sized washers around the base of the case and it will pull it out.

Then invest in a kit

I just sent mine in to the die company. They sent me a extractor kit, and a bill for $30. Lesson learned was don't skimp on lube.

put your die in a vise and drill out the tail end of the brass to fit a lag bolt or similar you have around. Then thread the tail end of the brass with the lag bolt's pitch-- heck use the bolt itself if it will bite. Then start stacking car washers on the tail end of the brass until the lag bolt pulls out the brass when tightened down. A socket will often help with the void you need for the brass to pull into if it's a bigger round.

ps... one shot doesn't work unless it is well shook every time and you slather it on. I use the rcbs lube and pad.
