Best powder for LR 300 win mag

In the process of getting all the reloading components together to reload for a custom LR 300 win mag. I am planning on shooting either a 210 or 215 grain bullet (berger or nosler ALR... can't find either in stock), and was wondering what powders you guys would recommend.

I've got some H1000 that I was going to start with... any thoughts on Retumbo? too slow?

Any starting loads with these bullets seated out far would be appreciated as well...

Thanks!

I don't think I am alone in saying H1000 is plain awesome in the 300 WM with heavy VLD's assuming you have a decent length barrel.

Some people say it is too slow burning, and for bullets 180GR and lighter or barrels shorter than 26" I tend to agree. It is very temp stable and I find with 208GR amax seated to normal mag length 79.5 GR with CCI Br2 primer got me into the mid 2900's shooting 1/3 MOA.

H1000 behind 215's is working like a charm for me

Another H-1000 shooter. I have worked it up in numerous 300 wins with 210 to 230 gr bullets with excellent results.

Thanks guys. It sounds like H-1000 really is the ticket.

My first bullet choice would be the Berger 215 Hybrid... Anybody know where I can find some in stock? I've called all my local gun shops, and no luck.

RL-22 seems to get better speed and some say the best accuracy. I found it to be too finicky with temp changes here in Ohio. Still you could do A LOT worse. I also think it is a bit cheaper than H1000?
