Best Powder for 7mm Rem

I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for so I figured Id ask. What powder is going to give the fastest velocity in the 7mm rem mag with 168gr bullet out of a 26" barrel? Right now Im shooting the bergers with retumbo and Iv got a really compressed load shooting around 2,950fps. Iv got quite a bit of powder crunching as it is so I'm not going to keep adding to it. What other powders will I get better velocity with that are still not to temp sensitive. Where I hunt it can go from 70 degrees to below 20 in a day so its kinda important. Thanks

H - 1000 will give you what you want for temp stability and vel.I'm curious as to what rifle your using that requires seating of the 168 gr bullets deep enough to be compressing powder. Also what 168 bullets are you using?

From my experience with the 7mm Rem Mag. I would agree that H1000 gives me the best accuracy, velocity, and temp stability. I have gotten great accuracy, velocity etc out of RL-22, but it does not offer the same temp stability as H1000.

Re: Best Powder for 7mm Rem

I tried R25 with mediocre results in accuracy and velocity department for the 168 SMK. I use R22 for 120gr to 162gr with excellent results. My next batch for the 168 will use R22. IMR 4350 has been great with 7mm Mag, but haven't tried with 168gr.

Re: Best Powder for 7mm Rem

H1000 has given me the most cosistently accurate loads with very good speed in many, many 7mm's using many different bullets (including 168 and 180 Berger and JLK) . RL 25 has given me off the charts speed with both the 168 and 180 VLD's in the only 2 guns I have tried them in. Accuracy has been good....not great, but good.
