Re: Berger 308 Win bullet ?

Have heard good things about Berger bullets in a 308 so far have hard trouble getting them to group. The rifle shoots Sierra and Nosler with out any problems found the 175gr at 2650 does a great job to 1000 yards and past.

With a 1:10 twist i would shoot the berger 190 or 215 weights. The high bc will pay off divedends. They're flight time is significantly shorter at 1k+

Contact Eric Sticker at Berger Bullets and he will give you seating depths to try out and find which will shoot best in your rifle. You will load into the lands,.010 off and so on He said if you do this you will find these bullets shoot great and they do.

The hybrid is much less sensitive to seating depth. I would suggest that route instead of the normal VLD.

The 155 gr "palma" style bullets will get to 1000 fairly easy. They will get out to a mile if you have enough MOA in bases, rings, and scope. Recovered a couple bullets that made the trip and it was obvious they hit steel plate nose first.

Some people have good luck with 208 GR Amax or 210 Berger VLD and Varget. If you can get it to 2500 FPS that's supersonic to about 1200 yards at sea level with very little wind drift.

Re: Berger 308 Win bullet ?

Just loaded up some 210 Berger VLD Hunting Match bullets in some old Hornady Match brass (brass I use for load development, since it's sitting around). I used 39.1gr of Varget. And seated it to 3.060" C.O.L. I will probably go to the range tomorrow to test, if it is not raining.

Here it is next to a regular .308 with a SAMMI length of 2.810". The black nickle brass one is loaded with a 175gr Nosler Custom Competition, backed with 44.0gr of Varget.
