Barnes Triple-Shock reloading question.

Loading 7mm-08 with 140gr and 300 Win Mag with 165. Any recommendations? Powder? Seating? Anything.

I shoot 140 and 180 Accubonds now. They shoot great in the 300 but not that good in the 7mm-08.

Any help appreciated,

Archer

Re: Barnes Triple-Shock reloading question.

I can't help you with load data because I don't shoot either of those calibers. I shoot triple shocks out of my 243, 270 WBY and 264 Win Mag and the only thing you have to be finnicky with is the seating depth. My 243 likes them .030 off of the lands. The 264 is .050 back and the WBY is freebore so I build them .100 shorter than the magazine box. I'm in the process of working up a load for 270 Winchester using 130 TSX's. I will start them at .020 and work back in 10/1000's increments until I'm satisfied. Hope this helps.

Re: Barnes Triple-Shock reloading question.

I load the Barnes 168 TSX for my .300Winny.I started at .010" off and went to .050" off.Found the best accuracy at -.030"I have loaded RL-19,RL-22,Retumbo,H-4831,H-1000.The RL-22 is good, but not consistant for me.Seems to vary with different lots and temperatures.I have had great success with H-1000.Excellent groups and unbelieveably low SD and ES.

Re: Barnes Triple-Shock reloading question.

My 280 Remington loves both the 140 and 150 grain Nosler BT but hates any Barnes bullet that I'd tried on it. On the otherhand, my Model 70 300 Win mag loves the 180 grain TSX and the Hornady BTSP. With 7-08 velocity, I don't think Barnes bullet is necessary. Why fix the wheel if it ain't broke. The 300 though is another story. As a matter of fact, I'm switching to Barnes 180 grain TSX on my 300 due to better bullet performance overall when compared to my proven Hornady 180 BTSP load. I can reach 3000 fps on a starting load of 74 grains of IMR 7848 with these bullets and the accuracy is outstanding.

+1 with Jimmys thread, I had excellent results with H4831SC Win cases fed 210M, 168 TSX in my 300WM .040 off the lands! AF

Re: Barnes Triple-Shock reloading question.

I have 2 7mm08's and load for 3 friends with them and the only weight we can get to shoot are 120's. We go from 3 to 4 inch with 140's to 3/4" to 1" with what ever 120 we try.The 3 guns are Rem. model 7's and mine are Win70 and Rem722 with Douglas barrels 1-9 twist.
