Accurate Arms Powders ???

I don't read much about anybody using Accurate Arms powders. I have used them in the past with good results in my .338 JDJ, and 444 Marlin Contenders, 25-06 and with the 180gr NBT's in my 338 Ultra mag.
I am goint to try some AA 4350 with some Barnes 225gr. TTSX beacuse I have 24 lbs of it. I bought it when Natchezss had it on sale for 8 bucks a pound back in the good old days and I keep it in sealed 50 cal. GI ammo cans.

So has anybody had good results with AA powders? If not I am going to be the Guinea Pig with the 225 Barnes and my 338 Ultra mag.

Re: Accurate Arms Powders ???

I use AA4350 in my 25-06 with the same load as I use with IMR 4350 and it shoots to the exact point of impact and with in the same velocity range as if you just changed lot numbers on the IMR 4350. I had a 7mm Rem mag that you could just about fill up a case with AA3100 and cram any bullet on top of it and it would shoot under 1/2 MOA. I got hold of 16lb of AA2200 data powder and it really shoots in my AR-15 223 with IMI 55 gr FMJ's . AA2520 works great in my M1 Garand. THE SMOKELESS POWDER for cast bullets for me in my Sharps 45-70 is AA-5744.

Re: Accurate Arms Powders ???

There are so many powders available to the reloader today, that the AA brand is not popular. But some of their powders are very good. AA2230 was designed for the .223 Rem and is still a good one.

I have a new Model 700 .222-250 that did not want to shoot well. I put about 250 pills down the pipe trying to find a load. Nothing worked until I tried some old AA2700 powder. Groups hovered around 1/2". But I am nearly out of it. Called seven local gun shops, only two of them had any AA powder, and none had 2700. But one shop offered to include my order for two pounds with their next powder shipment. I bought it, but at full retail price. Powder Valley carries the full line of AA powders, but you are going to pay shipping and the $25 hazmat charge.

I have used AA2230 for .223. It worked great and is easy to measure.
