accuracy load?

Could someone tell me the published accuracy load for the win 270 , sie 130 spbt and imr 4831 powder

A lot of us would like to have that kind of accuracy info. Sadly, it seems the few guys who might know are keeping that data secret so the rest of us have to do our own experiments.

Guess it's a conspiracy...?

Not exactly sure what you mean by "the accuracy load" but I shoot 54 grains of imr 4831 with a 130g speer pspbt and cci large magnum rifle primers out a Savage with a 22in sporter barrel from the bipod that load holds 1/2" at 100 yards and better than I can shoot it at 300 (I regularly hit the 4" gong 4 for 5 and when I miss it's my fault from poor mechanics.)

Dont have a chrono so I'm not sure what velocity is but I'm dead on at 300 yards and it puts me 2.5" high at 100 yards.

406PAT I have not done any handloading since the late 60s but back then when you bought a reloading manual it had starting loads all the way though to max loads and the accuracy load was somewhere in between and highlighted.so I thought this would be easy to answer. maybe it is not done that way anymore. thank you for your responce.

It is not necessarily in between slow and go.

In fact I find that most rifles respond to near max or max loads unless they have light barrel
contours and then lighter bullets are the trick.

Accuracy is based on many factors and the powder is just one of them.

My 270 Win liked IMR 4064 with the 130gr spitzer boat tails. I wanted it to like H 4831 but
it didn't.

If you don't reload I would try as many brands as possible,Hornady,Winchester,Federal,
Remingtion,Nosler ETC.

Work up to 57 grs.

IIRC this was a recommended load by Ed Matunas, and shot "tight as I can hold" in my 1954 Win. M70 (but this particular rifle slightly preferred the flat base 130 Sierras, rather than the boat tails).

I don't know about IMR 4831 but the most accurate load that I have ever found for the 270 Win. in about every rifle I have seen with almost any lead core 130 gr bullet is 60 grs. H-4831 Remington case and a CCI BR primer.
