and so do hornady sst's..
i have a 300 rum and it likes neither the 180 gr., nab's, even set as close as .10 off, nor 180 gr. hornady sst's...
i have tried different powders, re-25 seems to work the best, tried different oal lengths...

and it will not shoot a nab under a 3.5 x 3.0 inch group.

but, it loves 168 gr. barnes tsx's...

now what's up with all this ???

So its the bullets fault that you can get them to shoot?

Or is it the bullets fault that the gun has a problem with the bullets ?

Afternoon SPLATTERMATIC >> That is strange. Been using AccuBonds since they started coming out. From the 110's in the .25-06 to the 140's in the .280 AI to the 200's in the Warbird. Lots in between and am switching over loads to them as more hit the market. Across the board, they've proven extremely easy to find accuracy. Not suprising as I've found this to be true with all the Nosler poly-tipped bullets I've used over the years.

Not sure what's up with your RUM. Sure wouldn't mind working with it first hand just to see what was what, though. >> klallen

i don't have the elk tied up just yet... gimme some time..!!
here's what i have..
a trued remmy 700, factory 300 rum ss barel trued and recrowned.
the recvr has been opened for a wyatt's mag box, 1 piece egw base, opened to 8/40 screws, luppy prw rings, luppy 6 - 18 scope, and trigger breaks at 2 lbs.

i am shooting new remmy brass, just slightly pushed into a resizing die to round the necks, and deburred, with lrm 215 primers, and 99.0 gr's of reloader 25 powder.

no pressure signs and running mid 3300's....

168 gr tsx's are running just a bit over 3400 fps....
the tsx's are set at .20 off and shot a 3/4x1/2 inch group, more testing needed, maybe .025 will get better as longer got worse....

the nab's, i set a 3.690, the longest i could get into the mag, before the wyatt's, and went down to .10 off, single feeding them .....
they just will not group.
same with the sst's....

i have been using x bullets for a long time, and have no need to switch other than the cost of the damn things..
their perfermance on game is beyond reproach... ( and no i do not work for barnes)

here's the gun and work in progress on the mag box alterations.





any suggestions on a starting point for setting the bullets back from the rifling ?
.20 ? .30 ? .40 ? or just start somewhere and burn my barrel out chasing something that may never happen ???

Calm down a bit! The only way you can say that a bullet sucks is if it isn't consistant in it's creation (bullets deformed, not expanding the way they should, BC's different, weights off by lots...), and AB's are fairly consistant. I had problems w/ Ballistic tips and my 30-06, but I know it was just that my rifle didn't like them.
