A 8700 Powder

How useful is A 8700 Powder in the 7mm Rem. Mag.. If you have any loads with this powder I'd like to see what your Loads are.. If you find it useful in other Rounds I'd like to hear about those too..
Thanks,
AK

Hope you have lots of 8700 as it has been discontinued. Not sure if you knew that fact or not.

Nothing that I know of yet. It was discontinued not long after Accurate Arms sold the business to Western Powders. I haven't seen or heard of anything coming out to replace it by Western Powders.

AA 8700 is really too slow for the 7mm Rem mag to get best velocities. AA3100 will make it sing a pretty tune though. Yes AA8700 is no more made just like H-870.

    Re: A 8700 Powder

This is from a 2003 Accurate data guide.
    7mm Rem Mag, 24" barrel, CCI 250 primer, Remington case, 160 gr Nosler SP OAL 3.280", AA8700: Start 71.1 grs = 2698 fps, Max 79.0 grs = 2933

Here is the data for 150 gr bullets: Start 71.1, 2715 fps, Max 79.0, 2951 fps

Here is the data for 175 gr bullets: Start 67.5, 2534, Max 75.0, 2754 fps

It does show some about top velocity with 150 through 175 gr bullets. When I was trying it I was using 139 & 140 gr bullets and the velocity was really slow compared to what you could get with AA3100.
