I had a question for you. I have Rem 700 5r milspec.
It was .308. I had GA Precision re-chamber it for 300wsm. I had been thinking of re barreling it to 7mmx300wsm to take advantage of the high BC bullets.
I have a bunch of 300wsm brass.
whats the scoop on reloading 300wsm brass to 7mmx300wsm. Do I just use a 7wsm die with my 300 brass. I know the brass dimensions are a bit different.
Also Are there any real advantages to using 300wsm brass over the 7wsm?
Should I just suck it up and get new brass?
Any info would be great. Thanks guys
So, you already have your rifle converted to 300 wsm? Is it shot out already or your just ready for something new?
My winchester WSM action is actually longer than a remington short action. Its sort of a "medium length" action, specific to the WSM cartridge. Nice marketing trick, wouldn't you say? Introduce a "short action magnum" and then build rifles with a medium action....
The 7-300wsm is a good idea compared to the 7mm wsm if you don't mind the wildcat aspect. You'll need 7-300wsm dies - you can't just run 300wsm brass through standard 7wsm dies.
Another thought might be the 7mm rem saum. Its a little shorter for your remington action, longer neck and slightly more efficient than the 7wsm.
