SPOT- I think loading your bullet down in the case neck is a good idea, resulting a little jump. i started with re-19 got good results had a rocky mtn. bighorn and mule deer hunt and had to stop the fiddling with loads. the 168 at 2920 did awesome. since then i am trying h-4831 and h-1000. i do not use std primers with those powders i usually use WLRM . I do not shoot 4350 out my 7 , i still would use a mag primer just not the 215s; Unless i expected low temps where i was hunting. roninflag

I couldn't get the ES down below about 25 with Retumbo, although very good velocity (3075) and groups out to 500 yds. I switched to H1000 with the 215m and everything worked out great!

ive just shot 3 180 bergers through the chrony with 64grs of h1000 in my 7rm. the velocity was right around 2715fps. with retumbo and h4831sc around 2550. all loads were 2 grains under bergers listed data.

how far how you guys loaded up with h1000 with this combo?

I would carefully ease up .5gr increments until you see signs of pressure. I have only shot the 168's in the 7mag, but I believe you can achieve around 2900-2950 with the 180's. Just go slow and be carefull!

My last trip to the range I was able to acheive 3020fps with the 168gr VLDs and Retumbo loaded 2 grains over Bergers suggested max. This Broughton barrel is producing very low pressures so I believe I can make it another 1.5 grains and that should get me to around 3100fps +. I am hoping the velocity spread will continue to drop as velocity increases. Right now I am at around 51fps ES but holding real good groups last group of the day measured 4 out of 5 shots at .375" the 5th shot I pulled out of the group 1 inch to the right.

Thanks guy. So here it is so far. 66gr h1000 with the 180s. My chrony read 2800. Sighted in at 100 it took 9.75-10 moa to get to 570 yds. Can anyone run these number for me and see what the actual velocity is.
