7mm mag and 150 Nos Bal Tip

For the last 4 or 5 years I've been using 74 gr of Retumbo fed 215 rem case coal is 3.480. My old Remington 700 it shoots very well the 150 gr bt is a great deer bullet.

I shot the 150 BTs using 68 grs of IMR7828, Fed 215m. Kills were great in the 500 yd range. Would group 2.5 to 3 in at 600 yds.

I use a Hornaday SST in my 7MAG with IMR 4831 and it is the most comsistant load I have found.

65 grains of re 22 seat them .020 off the lands. This load shoots in every 7 mag I have ever seen. 62-64 grains of 4831 sc should also shoot well, just need to chootem and see.

I have the bullets, the brass, the powder.

OK, I can have Brownells send me one of the barrels, but they only stock select match in some fat taper, so I can get one from the barrel man.

I have the reamer.

I can get the primers, I can buy another neck turning device.

Something tells me I will not get that small a group.

You are using Rem700 actions and Jewel triggers?
I prefer a VZ24 action and Keplinger trigger, but that can't make that much difference.

Are you using a variable to 10X scope?

Clark: scope is Leupold 4.5x14x40 AO. Target is result of bench shooting with front and rear rest. Shilen bbl is #4 contour, 24" long. Action is trued 700 by Shilen. This particular 7mag has factory trigger at 2 pounds. This is the rifle:



I should have my first 280 Remington coming this summer with a Shilen bbl on it. I'm anxious to see what it will do.
