7 Mag load data (assistance needed)

I am currently building a 7 Mag on a Stiller Tac-300 action with a 26" Obermeyer 1:8.75 twist with a 0 Cant Stiller base and NF 5.5x22x50 NP-R1.
I have been researching loads for killing elk out to 800 yds.
What do you recommend for powder, primer, brass, bullets?
What do you recommend for loads based upon the above?
Trying to get 3,00 fps.

Thanks in advance.

26" barrel 150 gr Nos Bal Tip 66 gr H4350 3250 fps average.

That is about 10 gr more than published, but it still has long brass life.

I shot two animals with it in 2011.

My rifle: Win Model 70 7mmRM 26" bbl

162gr A-MAX
58.5gr IMR 4831
Winchester Magnum Primers
Used Hornady Brass

Shoots 5/8" groups consistently at 100yds. I've had good luck on steel at our ranch all the way out to 905yds.

This isn't a max load. I think Hornady's listed max was 61-ish grains but 58.5gr made 5 shots into 1 ragged hole so I'm more than pleased. This rifle isn't anything special, I actually picked it up at a local gun/pawn dive for $350 so compared to some of the monsters I see here at LRH I feel like I'm getting away with something.

Best of luck,
BenMc

If you are targeting Elk at long range I would try for the 180gr Berger. Use H1000 or Retumbo.

Down here in NZ our deer are smaller than elk and I use

168 berger approx 10 thou into the lands
71.5gr H1000
Federal brass
Federal 215 primer
3070 fps from a 26" barrel.

Stu.

I like the 160 gr Nosler Accubond with Norma brass, Remington 9.5 primers (non magnum variety), and Reloder 22 (around 65 gr).

Try 67.5-H1000-168berger VLD. You did not say what weight, but this load gives me 2977. Very accurate, low ES, SD. A good 140 load is 68.7 RL22-140, with 215, or WLR primers @ 10/1000ths of the throat. TheTSX is a great bullet to try. Nosler, AB, BT, or CT also shoot great and hammer deer. For the long shots you are wanting to take, I'd go with the 168's.

7 STW.
