6mm - 85gr Sierra vs 87gr Hornady?

Since we have some 6mm "experts" here I have a question or two on the Sierra 85gr HPBT vs the Hornady 87gr HPBT. I have been shooting 6mm wildcats for years, 243AI, 6mm/250AI and now a 6mm/284. But this came to my attention just recently.

Why is the the BC so different on these two similar bullets, Sierra .282 and Hornady .376? I can see that the Hornady is a little longer, is that the reason?

Because of the better BC the ballistic calculators give the Hornady quite an advantage.

Shooting both bullets with a muzzle velocity of 3450 fps.

At 500 yds
Energy: Sierra 642, Hornady 923.
Velocity: Sierra 1849, Hornady 2185.

Obviously that makes the Hornady appear to shoot a lot flatter.

Accuracy with the Sierra "seems" to be better.

Anybody got any thoughts on this?
