Re: 6-284 load data "Help"
When I first decided to make my 6mm-284 I did some internet searching. I just counted 11 pages of load information I put in my documents. It is really easy to find load data if you are willing to do the search. Most of my data pertained to the 105 and heavier bullets. I posted some lighter bullet loads below. Bet you can find pages of information.
Here are some that apply to your rifle. Just use these as a guide and work up to these listed charges. I have not tried any as I went with 107 sierras and later the 105 Berger target hybrid. Your twist is too slow to take advantage of those higher BC bullets.
Data taken from net:
53.2g of RL-22, CCI BR2 primer, Lapua brass, 87g VMAX seated 0.005 out of the lands. 3598 fps BC for 87 gr is .400
Out of my 6x284 I'm getting 3,630 (Average of 7 shots) with a 87gr V-max. It needs 53.5grs of H4350 to do though.I've only shot coyotes with it and a few squirels ,which I might add turn into a "Red Mist"
I am currently using 49.3g of RL-17 and the 87g VMAX. I am getting 3697 fps +- 4 fps regularly. This powder got me an extra 100 fps (which is the whole point we are shooting this thing!) and the accuracy has been incredible! OF course I am shooting a 30" barrel.
If you have a borescope you can watch the barrel wear and man it gets ugly when the round count gets to around 750.
