50 grain vmax question

I am shooting the 50 grain vmax in my 22-250. Just wondering what you guys are finding this bullet likes as far a jump to the lands for the best accuracy. I have been playing around with seating depth, and it seems for my rifle that about 0.02 to 0.03 jump is working the best. I have tried from about 0.05 to right against. Please give me your opinion and experience.

Re: 50 grain vmax question

I've never tried the 50gr, but I use both 53gr and 55gr. I have no idea what my jump is, it's long though. My 22-250 is free bored and the magazine is even longer (older savage 110) so I just seat em deep enough that I feel comfortable that the neck provides a good support for the bullet. Doesn't seem to hurt anything though it's still outshoots me hands down
Keep in mind the animals we shoot for food and display are not bullet proof. Contrary to popular belief, they bleed and die just like they did a hundred years ago. Being competent with a given rifle is far more important than impressive ballistics and poor shootability. High velocity misses never put a steak in the freezer.
