This rifle is a standard remington 700 with the 26" stainless barrel. It shot best with a coal of 3.955 and 99.5 grains of RE-25. That load averaged 3261 fps and .47" group at 100 yards. 98 grains of magpro also gave very good results at 3218 fps. That group was .53"at 100 yards. I used a fed 215 match primer.

Both the 338-300 RUM and 338 RUM liked the bullets seated out very near the recommended depth and not seated deep. Both these rifles are so easy to load for they shoot good with most loads. But the .64 bc makes this bullet attractive and it does seem to be an accurate bullet with the limited shooting I have done with it so far.

What would be a good starting load using H 1000 with the CE 225 in a 338-300 ?

It is slightly slower than RE-25 so it is difficult to get enough powder into the case with my rifle without crunching a very compressed load. My accuracy load with RE25 is 102.5 in the 338-300 RUM so you can start 101 or so with H-1000 and go up. The 225 CE seats very shallow so that helps. Starting lower than re 25 will help if your throat is shorter than mine. I can shoot 104 grains h 1000 in mine.

Thanks , I'm going to give them a try. I'm at 3.930 so I'll try at 3.920 coal and start at 101 gr. I just bought a new batch of h-1000 (8 lb) and I've had to drop my 300 smk loads from 93 gr to 90.3grs. so I'm sure it's a little faster than the old powder.

The new H-1000 could be faster than RE-25 now. I have not tried the new H-1000. But dropping three grains puts you at or a tad faster than re25. So I would definitely drop down to 99-100 grains to start with and maybe load one bullet at 99, 100, 101, 102 just to see what your max is going to be. Then you can go back and load some groups from there. I still have the old H-1000 so wouldn't know about the new stuff.

I am loading 98 grains of new lot H-1000 and getting a little better than 3200 fps and grouping very nicely. I was originally loading 97 grains of RL 25 but the load was hard on primer pockets and right at 3300. I dropped my powder charge but it doesn't shoot as well as the new lot of H-1000 in my gun. I still have an older new one pound jug of H-1000 if someone needs it.
