338 RUM loads w/ H1000

Any of you guys have any loads you can share for your 338 RUM using H1000? I am interested in 200 gr and 225 gr AB loads.
I have had great luck with both RL22 and RL25 getting .5 MOA, I am just wanting to try the Hodgdon Extream powder.
Thanks for any info you can share.

Regards,

Re: 338 RUM loads w/ H1000

I tried H1000 in my 700 LSS 338 RUM with the 200 gr Nosler AB. 101.0 grs R-P case and Federal GM215M primer gave me a 3 shot group of .599" at 100 yds.

Re: 338 RUM loads w/ H1000

Not ABs but Hornaday 225s:
92gr H-1000 average vel 2960 FPS - Shot patterns not groups.

94gr 7828, 3 Shot Average 3099 FPS average PSI ~63000 1/2 MOA. One group only. I'll try to duplicate it if I can't get any 250s shooting.

250gr Nosler partition, 94.5gr RL-25, 3 shot avg. 2990, 1 MOA.
250 NOS Part. 101gr Retumbo, 3068 FPS (3 shots) - pattern vs group.

Here's something to think about:
All loads: Sierra 250gr Game Kings, 94.5gr RL25, 3 shot averages.
Seating depth, Base to Ogive: 3.240, Avg FPS 3006 ES 41
Seating depth, Base to Ogive: 3.072, Avg FPS 2947 ES 26
Seating depth, Base to Ogive: 3.016, Avg FPS 2915 ES 23
Target shows a pattern vs group on these 9 shots.

BTW thanks for the load data from a while back.

I'm having to seat all bullets fairly deep to get anything that could be considered accurate, but then not very addurate, so far.

I must have the slowest most inaccurate 338 RUM in the world. My best group came from the last 5 shots of the Final Finish process???

Re: 338 RUM loads w/ H1000

Roy,

The best accuracy, by far, has been RL22 and RL25 in my 338 RUM. The same load data I sent you a while back.
I just put some M1 dials on a VXIII 2.5x8 and did some shooting with the 200 gr AB.
100 yd zero
200 yd 1+1 MOA 2 shot group measured .262"!
300 yd 2+0 MOA 3 shot group measured 1.987"
400 yd 4+0 MOA 3 shot group measured 2.265", 2 shots were .507"!

My come ups were less than what my ballistic program called out. I have tried changing the velocity and the BC trying to match up with my actual reading but with no luck.
I will have a chronograph soon to eleminate the MV guessing game.

Now I'm depressed. I think I'll sit in the closet and eat worms.

We'll see what today or tomorrow says.....

Re: 338 RUM loads w/ H1000

Here is a picture of my 700LSS in 338 RUM.
Stock rifle with a Pachmyer Decelerator reciol pad and the trigger adjusted to 2.75 lbs.
Scope is a Leupold VXIII 2.5x8 with M1 dials.
I am planning on a Mark 4 4.5x14PR and having M1 dials added next year.

Re: 338 RUM loads w/ H1000

Here is my Rem 700 APR 338 Ultra mag. It does well with 90 grains of H-1000 but really shines with 96 grains of RL 95 and the 225 Accubond. It has the Mark4 405-14 PR scope mounted. 300 yard groups average 1.5 inches. In the hands of someone that can shoot it would do much better. I also have one of these in 300 Ultra.
