338 RUM bullets

I know this is a loaded question, but I want the best bullet, so which is it? I am planning a Moose hunt, but for Moose, Elk, Caribou which bullet would you use? Nosler Accubonds, Nosler Partitions, Barnes(I have heard that some guys get copper with the Barnes). I would like to use a 225 gr bullet and I am just looking for opinions.

For "real close" stuff the Partition will be fine. If there is any distance involved, look no further than the 225 AB.

I've shot alot of TSX the copper is no more than any other jacketed bullets in my rifle, infact less than some. The Terminal performance is outstanding in 7mm & 30 Cal in my experience.
How far do you plan to shoot?
The 225 TSX has performed outstandingly in my 338 Win Mag. For true long range the TSX BCs or a little on the low side IMHO, but I have taken game out to 777 yards with the 180 TSX in my 300 Win Mag

I have a 338RUM coming and plan on trying the new 225 gr Barnes Tipped Triple Shocks. They are different than the regular triple shocks in that they are boat tailed. When I got the box I sorted them according to weight and was surprised at the range from low to high.

They are laid out on the towel separated by .1 gr starting at the top left at 224.0 gr and going left to right to the bullet at the bottom right which was 225.7 gr



The breakout is:
224.0 gr - 1
224.2 gr - 1
224.3 gr - 2
224.5 gr - 1
224.6 gr - 1
224.7 gr - 1
224.8 gr - 2
224.9 gr - 12
225.0 gr - 12
225.1 gr - 9
225.2 gr - 1
225.3 gr - 1
225.4 gr - 3
225.6 gr - 2
225.7 gr - 1

One of them had the tip broken off and I was surprised at the larger hollow point behind the tip than the regular TSX



If my rifle doesn't like them then the 225 gr Accubond is next on the list.

Bob,

The 225 Partition has a .454 BC compared to the .550 BC of the Accubond.

The AB is much better for long range work.

My 338 RUM is my to go gun. Fairly pleasent to shoot with a brake and easy to load for. Haven't really found anything it doesn't like. Listen to Joel, the 225gr Accubond will get the job done.
To date have taken a Dall ram, two bull elk and a cow at ranges from 350 to 698 yds all with the AB. Plus we had grizzly tags in AK, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to smack one with that bullet.
