506 thats impressive. farthest shot on an animal so far for me was a doe at 275 in the head. but i just got my gun a few months ago. i wana stretch it out one of these days its just hard finding a long shot in south Texas brush.

We have some alfalfa and orchard grass fields, can get 1200 if we shoot across all four. The main reason I shoot my 308 is that its cheap to shoot, I don't have much in it, and I can beat it around and not worry about it, but in all honesty I would take a longer shot on a whitetail with my 16lb light gun in 6br than I would with my 308, a 105 vld at 3030fps is pretty effective and its also dirt cheap to shoot.

I tried the Lapua palma brass and didn't see much difference in accuracy. In most cases it was a little less accurate plus the flash hole is smaller and a pain to resize with regular dies. I finally got some de-capping dies to use and made it a lot easier. My friend just shot a mule deer in colorado at 670 yards with 168 a-maxes and I was very impressed with the results..308 palma-img_20121102_092550.jpg
