.308 brass whats the best?

Im getting back into reloading the .308 bolt gun and am curious what is the preferred brass to use. I have a bunch of new old ( 1990 or so) made winchester brass from midway. And a bunch of L.C. brass bought years ago. It is going into factory chambers Win. Mod. 70 and savage 10FP i will do all the prep. ( shorting by weight, flash hole stuff, trimming) but want to know from an accuracy stand point what is the hot ticket going now? gonna load bergers and sierra MK 168s any imput would help. thanks..

Re: .308 brass whats the best?

I load nothing but Sierra and I get them from Sierra direct. In order of revelance on brass (at least my revelance), Lapua, Lake City and everything else.

I load a boatload of 308 caliber for bolt guns. Just finished loading 2500, all in Lake City 12 OFMB from Wideners. 2140 165 HPBT- 2200 168 HPBT - 2120 125 SPT H380 (about 20 pounds give or take) across the board 210M federal primers.

That will last maybe 6 months.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the pockets but with the necks depending on your sizing regimen. Brass is brass for the most part and all brass workhardens. 7 times is a bit much without annealing.

Because 308 brass is pretty easy to obtain and inexpensive, we toss 'em (scrap yard) after 3 times.
