308 advice

I just picked up my first rifle chambered .308 win. It's a rem 700p.
I am looking for some loading advice. I have 168gr sierra matchkings. does anyone have some advice on powders or some favorite pet loads.

Thanks,
Aaron

Two loads that work Varget 46gr with a 155 hornady, 44.5 of varget with
a 168 nos. Both of these work in other rifles.
For a nice load for the 175 smk is 45gr varget with win brass,210M, and
varget again THIS IS A MAX LOAD on the 175 so work it up.

That was the same load I shot in my Sendero 308 with the 168 SRMK and varget. It would shoot 5 bullets into 1/2" at 100 yards.

I run varget @2680fps with the 168mk, set off with a cci br200 pimer in Win brass. Don't remember the exact charge wieght. Shoots sub 1/2" @ 100 in 2 different factory guns.

Ok like always back off and work up! all that said I'm going to probably be the odd duck here in that I really don't care all that much for Varget powder, Ok guys put your pitchfork and bats away just never had great luck with it nothing against it.

RL-15
LC brass
Fed 210M
45.5gr. charge
2.810 OAL
168gr. SMK

IMR-4064
LC brass
Fed 210M
46.0gr. Compressed
2.810 OAL
168gr. SMK

I've had the best luck with the 4064 for small groups and velocity spreads are pretty much nothing (single digits) Best of luck and be safe. Later,

Kirk
