300 WM RE-22 vs H4350

I'm working up a load for a 300wm 185VLD berger. I read some reviews and settled on RE-22, but am not sure about temp sensitivity. The re-22 seems to be the choice for 185gr bullet. H4350 seems to be the choice for 165 grain and lighter. H4350 seams to have better temp sensitivity. Anyone have experience on which one I should choose? Thank you!

Rl22 has been great in the 300 wm with 180s for me as has h4831 which has a similar burn rate and is an extreme powder so much less temp sensitive. Anything over 180 and I usually go to h1000 which is also an extreme powder.

Re: 300 WM RE-22 vs H4350

RL22 is usually a great powder around 74-75.5 grs, but my 300 loves 68-grs of H4350. Unless you hunt below 0 or above 90 I would not worry too much on powder sensativity. I have used RL 22 here in NM from 20-90 with no issues and 20 fps highest spread.

Good luck!

Re: 300 WM RE-22 vs H4350

If I had to choose one powder and only one powder for everything I own from 25/06 to .338 WM and just about everything in between it would be H-4350.. for whatever reason it seems to give the best results for me... it burns clean, velocities are almost as good as the slower powders, and accuracy in my guns always is best with H-4350... I am a firm believer in H-4350 and over the last 45 years of reloading I've noticed that just about everything else has disappeared from my racks of powders and the only kegs I buy these days is it. In the 5 300 WM I load for it is always the best powder with 150--180 grains and also I use it in all the short mags I load for also. great powder and nothing against R-22..

Re: 300 WM RE-22 vs H4350

I use RL22 with 165 Accubonds in mine, and am currently working up a load with IMR 4350 and the 185 Matrix VLD (didn't seem to like RL22 for whatever reason). Also have some 210 Matrix VLD's to try out maybe with RL22 or 25? Marshall doesn't recommend the 210's for hunting, but should be an excellent LR target bullet.

Re: 300 WM RE-22 vs H4350

rl22 is a great option for 180 grain bullets in the 300 win. But if your rifle is bent on single base one of the 4831's, h1000. or retumbo will be the best choice. I've worked with 4350 with heavier bullets in the win, and while it's accurate, it will hit max. pressure earlier and not net as much velocity.
