300 Winchester Magnum - 180 grain bullets - RL25

Is anyone using this combination? If so, what were your results?

I use rl22 or I 7828 myself if either 165 or 180gr. pills are on the menu in a 300 win.
I save the rl25 for my 300 rum with 180's. rl25 is do-able but you will have a rather compressed charge. Should shoot like a house a fire though.

Re: 300 Winchester Magnum - 180 grain bullets - RL25

I use 180 grain Accubonds and 73.5 grains of RL-22 for my 300win mag. Out of my 25" barrel, I get overlapping holes...about 0.25". Keep in mind the diameter of the bullet makes up a lot of that 0.25"! I could maybe tweak it a bit and get holes inside of holes, but when the net result of a 5 shot group is just one hole (not perfectly round, though), I'm satisfied. I may come back and tweak it after my LR class this fall though.

Personaly i use re19 more in the 300win then any other powder. It may be a tad fast for the use but its given me the best accuracy. Re25 might be a bit slow. Truthfully something like re22 or 7828 might be about ideal.

I have had great luck wih 80.0 gr of RL 25 with 180 accubonds and partitions,Fed 215 primer, around 3,100 fps. Shot this in many rifles.

RL25 is a bit slow, even H1000 is a little slow for 180s both will be tightly compressed loads. My personal favorites are Imr4350 and H4831, although AA3100, RE22, Imr4831 and 7828ssc, and VV N160 or 560 are all respecable choices.
