300 win mag, Bullet question.

I am looking at starting a new load/bullet. I am shooting a rem mod 700. Currently I am shooting 168 gr silver ballistic tips / 79gr RE 22. They shoot around .50 if i do my part. I have had good success but i am interested in shooting 168 gr , 175 gr or 185 bergers. My barrel twist I believe on a stock remington barrell is 1:10. What out of the above bullet would or should shoot best.

I am leaning towards the 175 or 185gr with H100. Anyone have any load data for the 175 gr berger? I can find lots of info on the 185gr. I have tried emailing berger and my emails keep getting kicked back / dont go through.

Thanks in advance.

Why not something heavier like 190 GR game king/208 Amax or 210 VLD Heavy bullets do very well with h1000

I agree I was running the 185g VLD, but Im steeping up to the 210g VLD in my win mag and the 200g TTSX in my WSM. I may even try the 230g VLD but Im worried I will have to single round load them.

Re: 300 win mag, Bullet question.

How far are you trying to reach and what is your intended target? the 208 Amax or the 210 Berger (which is what I use) will buck the wind better and give you far more energy down range than a 168, 175, 185, or 190 will. This becomes evident as you go past 500 yards and is especially true out at 800 - 1000. If you are going to be hunting elk, go heavier. I have my 210's going 2955 with H1000 and 2920 with RL 22.

Good luck

How much H1000 and COAL? I run em up to the lands and 80GR of h1000 with cci Br2 Primer. Works well and is just shy of 3000 FPS

Re: 300 win mag, Bullet question.

Nosler brass, 81g H1000, CCI BR2, 185g VLD 3030FPS. The Nosler brass has a higher internal capicity. I cant recal COAL as I have never measured it. I did a dummy round of my chamber and then the seating depth test. I'm .050 off the lands.

I really like those BR2's. This weekend I'm gonna ladder my way up to 81GR and see what happins. I get a slight bit of compression now which I want.
