300 grain 338 Lapua speed out of a Savage?

I'm shooting a Remington 700P in 338 Lapua and using the 300grain SMKs. I'm getting 2675fps and noticing pressure signs once in a while. I backed off my load. I don't think your Savage is the issue, it's a high-pressure load to begin with.

Note that I use Retumbo vs. H1000, my rifle will not shoot with H1000 for some reason with ANY bullet.

Like others in this thread, I found that Retumbo will produce 25-50 FPS more velocity than H1000. I get comparable accuracy and ES with both. 89.2 gr Retumbo will get me 2700 FPS, as does 90 gr of H1000, but this is the max with H1000 before I get pressure signs. I can use 91 gr. Retumbo and get 2750 FPS. Ended up using 89gr.though. Not much of a trade off and it's easier on the brass.

I am curious as to what your OAL is if you don't mind sharing. I recently just started with mine (HS) and greatly appreciate all the info I am finding here to reduce the pain. Like the Hornday Brass ordeal so much for a good deal on some once fired brass. Thanks in advance for any guidance.
