280 Ackley and 162 A-max

Hi everyone ,
I am hoping to have a 280 ackley built on a Sako 75 action next year.
The barrel will be a senduro contour and finnished at 28 inches.
I will be having the chamber cut to use the Nosler custom 280 ackley brass and my Newlon dies will be cut with same reamer too!!
I plan to run the 162 A-maxs in this rifle and my question is what powders do you recomend please???
Thanks ...
Ray.

I have a 280AI with a 24" barrel and I shoot the Berger 168vld. I use H4831sc in mine, other powders are H1000, RL22, RL17, and many others. You should get great velocity out of the 28".

I've had pretty good luck with 160gr AB and R-17 in my 280AI also shot some IMR-7828ssc with 160gr AB load out of Nosler manual and my barrel is 27" long.

Magpro worked best for me. Highest speeds, great accuracy, and fantastic metering.

RL22 works great too.

I have always used H4831sc with the 140s and had great luck. I just loaded up some 168 VLDs with H4831sc and IMR7828ssc, but haven't been to the range. What load and velocity are you guys getting?

One advantage I found with the longer barrel like in my 280AI loading powder like IMR-7828ssc using Nosler data start load is 57.5gr @ 2856fps and max is 61.5gr @ 3043fps. I load 58.5gr/IMR-7828ssc @3038fps with 160gr AB and 56gr/R-17 same bullet @ 3046fps. I had my 280AI throated little longer and if I went to max loads using IMR-7828ssc I'd be well over 3100fps same with R-17.

Don't get me wrong I'm pushing powder I using and I'm sure anyone putting 28"long barrel would understand advantage to doing that. I started couple grs under start loads.
