Sierra 130gr BT/57.5 IMR4831/Win case was the accuracy load for my 1954 Win. M70.
The new Federal Vital Shok Premium with 150gr Nosler Partitions is just as accurate in this rifle. This ammo is pricey, but devastating on larger game...very reassuring when presented with less that optimal angles on large animals
H 4831, 60 grs. under a 130 Sierra or 130 Nosler ballistic tip in a Remington case fired by a CCI-BR2 primer is a real tack driver in about all the 270 Win's I have ever seen. This load kills deer dead in their tracks from pointblank to waaaaay out there.
Thanks guys. I'm starting a loading logbook for him with all this data in it. When he gets the components we'll start loading and shooting. Luckily, we can shoot here at the house so that might speed up the process.
Word of caution regarding the Mossberg - you have heard of the problem with the bolts??? It is dangerous and just want to make you aware. I have only seen one in action. Brand new and shooting incredibly well. For 270 I use 4350 and Hornady 140 btsp's. They have worked best for both accuracy and results for me. You are a darn good uncle.
