Re: .264 Win Mag Powder Choice?

I have had great results with Retumbo and 130 AB in my 264 Win mag. 3350 fps and under moa accuracy. The 130 AB is a great deer bulled at these speeds. You can make 264 cases by just running 7 rem mag cases into your FL size die. I use WW 7 mag cases.

My only problem with using 7mm brass is very couple of years I go to mexico to hunt deer. To take ammo into the country the headstamp on the ammo needs to match the rifle you are premitted with.

I dont go with the extreamly slow powders. Ive had better luck with velocity and accuracy with powders like re22 and 7828 and even 4831. In all actuallity its alot closer to a 7mag then a 7stw and the same powders that work in the 7mag do just as well in the 264

Give the Nosler or Norma cases a try. They work pretty well for me. Long life and seem to be pretty consistent.

Another consideration is the Temp at test site (vs) shooting site. If you test in hot summer (90s) and hunt at 0 or 20 F in winter better test some of the Extreme powders like in (H). It can be a big difference at Altitude also.

Good luck.

I picked up some Nosler as I couldn't find in Norma. Norma is suppose to have the .264 but I haven't found anyone with it. I have it on a couple notify me lists should the vendors ever get it but as for now I have the Nosler.

Is your Norma brass necked down 7mag brass?

My brass is 264WM Nosler. I haven't gotten any of the Norma either. I have a feeling, the Norma and Nosler are the same stuff...
