Re: 264 win mag
I looked up 140 grain loads in the Lyman manual and it listed 7828 at 60.5 grains max, the Hornady manual lists 61.8 grains of 7828 as max. Nosler doesn't list 7828 as a powder to use in their manual for a 140 grain bullet. I've been reloading long enough to know that some guns can handle higher charges of powder than others. One of the early Speer manuals from the 60's was quite hot, some people were blowing primers with the max loads listed' newer Speer manuals are fairly conservative. I will work up my loads slowly watching for pressure signs and watching my accuracy as I go.
A friend of my dads when I was growing up in the 60's, who was also a part time gunsmith, had a 264 mag and I have always been fascinated with them. Thanks for the info on your gun, and loads, it seems like it can handle extremelly hot loads with ease, and the velocities are also very fast accordingly.
