Re: 260 Rem Load Recipeies?

The one I looked at was one of the special edition models, can't remember if it was a VLS or LSS.

From powders I have, RL-15, RL-17, RL-22, and Varget also I got some Trail Boss which I think I can use to fire-form brass without using any bullets. I have Lee Reloading book it looks like RL-22 would perform the best, but this book has nothing for RL-17, which I've heard is more superior. So does anyone have a good stable load using RL-17? Alliant website recommends 41gr which would push 2,645 fps. Thanx.

Re: 260 Rem Load Recipeies?

Jtkratzer, I used a load of 45 grns of H-4350 with the 130 VLD and tried to copy what blipelt had done. My rifle did not shoot his load well, however, when I tried his load using Rem 243 brass sized up over my Lapua brass and Fed 210 M primers, the group shot very well! The same happend with my 140 A-Max load using 44.5 grains of H-4350 with the CCI primers. Also, the average for the CCI BR-2 fps was 2947 with an ES of 20. The Fed primers fps was 2882 with an ES of 5. So, was it the brass or the Fed primers that made the difference. I will load some more up and try them next weekend and see.

Very interesting, both loads shot extremely better and faster using the either the Win brass and 210 M primers. Was it both or the combo of the two? Here are a few photo's

Re: 260 Rem Load Recipeies?

I messed up on the fps on the above post.

However, I will focus on these two loads for my tactical shooting. Also, keep in mind that I am shooting a 24" brux barrel with a Thunderbeast 308 suppressor.

The 140 A-Max with Lapua brass, CCI primers with 44.5 of H-4350 was 2852 fps, ES 21. Same load with the Win brass with Fed 210 primers was 2882 fps, ES 5.

The 130 Berger VLD's using Lapua brass , CCI primers with 45 grns of H-4350, 2938 fps, ES 28. Same load with Win brass and Fed 210 M primers was 2947 fps, ES 20.

Happy Easter!

Re: 260 Rem Load Recipeies?

I use h4350 with amaxes and fed match primers using REM brass I was getting 2880 fps with 43 grains of powder with pretty good accuracy. I just switched to lapua brass and shot a .612 5 shot group but I think I pulled 2. I really want to use berger 140s but with the accuracy, fps and price of the amax I may just leave it alone.

Thank you Sully! It just been almost a year since I had this posted and since then I used many different powders and bullets, so I have my loads straighten. Now I only use RL-17, H4350 and H4831CS, from bullets I like 139 gr Lapua Scenar this bullet got .615 BC and for plinking I use 140gr or 123gr A-max.

Jinx-, which is your most consistent 260 load for accuracy, without any shift?
