I tried 250gr Sierra MatchKings and 250gr GameKings with R22, R25, H1000, and Retumbo. I couldn't get them to shoot acceptable groups (better then 1/2 inch-this rifle was built by Kirby after all) so I never ran them over a chrony. I shoot 300gr MK's over 90gr of H1000 for 2800+fps and couldn't be happier.

i shoot 250 Sierra's with 98gr of H1000/250 primers. if your Barnes bullet is a groove style it can probably go a grain or 2 more before it hits pressure. 101 started to mark the brass on mine. i'd say 94 would be a good place to start.

Bravo, i couldn't get mine to shoot any better than an inch or so at 100 yards but it would shoot an inch at 300. did you ever shoot the 250's at 2 or 300 yards?

Nope.
I didn't think there would be a problem with a 250gr bullet "settling" down at 100yards, so when I didn't like the groups I just changed to the 300. The 300's don't have a problem grouping at 100 or any distance for that matter, so I just think the rifle didn't like the 250's. I expected better then 3/4 to 1/2 inch groups, and now have them. I got my money's worth out of Kirby!
