Re: 25-06 Varmint loads

75 vmax-- another vote for IMR 4064. I found accuracy around 3500 fps
85 NBT- RL 19 work up to 58-59 gr- 3500 fps and accuracy for me.

Re: 25-06 Varmint loads

No chrono here yet but I do have one coming. My favorite load seems to be the 85 grn nosler ballistic tips with48 grains of H414 and a winchester large rifle mag primer. Seat the bullets about .010 of the lands. It hammers the target out to 300 yards easily.

i have a ruger VT 25-06 and use 60g of h4350 cci 200 primer rem case
velocity is around 3700fps will check if you like i have it written down some where
pressure is fine i have loaded the same case 8 times and it still doesn't need fl sizing
and it shoots around the .480 mark.

Re: 25-06 Varmint loads

Not the exact same pill, but I was running 2 different 75gr HP's in my 25-06, both with the same load, which was 55gr's of 760 in Rem brass and WLR primers @ 3700fps out of my 24" barrel.
I was also pushing the 85gr BT's @ just over 3600fps with 54gr's of H4350 in the same brass and primer, Winchester brass ran a couple grains heavier charges for the same velocities.
One word of caution, the barrel heats up quick with these loads, as little as 3 shots, so if you want long barrel life don't shoot the daylights out of it and let it cool. I have seen 1 25-06 barrel go bad in less than 800 shots due to being shot while too hot to touch too many times.
IMHO, really, the 25-06 is too much gun for a prairie dog session and is better suited to big game and heavier bullets.

Cheers.

Re: 25-06 Varmint loads

I have a few 100gr. loads that have done well in several 25-06's. Velocity is normally around 3300fps and have been accurate at 500 yards. Kills the heck out of deer using a Ballistic Tip. I once shot a rabbit with it and all that was left was the ears.

RL-22, H4831 and H4350 along with a 210-M primer is your friend.
