25-06 load questions

https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.c...=yes&submit=GO These are the bullets I have on order and I picked up some H-4350 powder and CCI primers locally. Anyone have any suggestions on the starting, powder charges I should use on this combination? I'm mainly going to use these to punch paper. Thanks!

Re: 25-06 load questions

Hodgdon 06 manual says start load for 100 gr bullets in the 25-06 with H-4350 is 47.0 grs and max is 50.0 grs. Work up to it but most of the time somewhere around 49 to 50 grs is where H-4350 shoots well. I have always found 52 grs. IMR 4350 with 100 gr bullets to be really accurate.

Re: 25-06 load questions

I would start with 48.5 grains and work up in 0.3 grain increments to see where you find a sweet spot. I an using 52 grains of H4350 with the 100 grain Barnes TSX bullet. In most of my rifles in the 25-06 class of capacity up to my 270 Weatherby I have found that H4350 is the most accurate powder. For paper punching, play with the powder charge until you find a nice, circular group and then play with the seating depth to see if you can fine tune the load. My 25-06 Browning single shot B-78 is my hunting rifle of choice for hogs, antelope and deer and will shoot lights out when I fine tune a load. I have had excellent luck with Reloader 25 using 100 and 110 grain bullets with higher velocity than I can achieve with H4350 with similar accuracy. Good shooting. Tom
