243 AI twist rates

I use mainly 68 and 70 grain bullets what would the best twist rate be for this ?? may lasy barrel was 1 in 13 my new barrel should hacve been a 1 in 12 but the smith that ordered it has totally messed it up and even sent the wrong contour as well as a 1 in 10 twist, anyway Iam now informed that the company whos barrel iam having only does a 8 9 or 10 twist, will I be OK with a 10 twist

Re: 243 AI twist rates

You should be. Don't know if you are shooting Berger's or not, but their recommendation for 6mm 68 and 70 gn Match Bullets is 1:13. http://www.bergerbullets.com. I have a 1:10 Hart on my 6mm TCU rifle and it does great with 68 gn Berger bullets.

Re: 243 AI twist rates

Ackley,
My 243 Rem had a 1-9 1/4 twist and shot 68grn Bergers and 70 SMKs extremely well so i think a 1-10 will be okay.
However you should always go for the minimum twist that will stabilize your chosen bullet and Bergers recommendation
is worth taking note of.

Ian
