Guys...I think the only problem is that he's missing a decimal point in those yardages. It's probably more like 30.0 and 70.0 yards. That would explain the small groups.
I'll sure be glad when the snow and mud goes away so I can get out and do some shooting. This cabin fever is driving me crazy.
Talk about righteous indignation I'm full of it Young whipper snapper....
We're Old farts, eh? Even with my wheezie 63 years and buffalobob's beat up hands bet we can put ya under the table in a donut eatin' contest.....
All kiddin' aside, jimm, that's some great work. Somewhere it says; "...and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over..." Seems to fit the results of your work (itsie bittsie groups).
Between yourself and Grit I'm feeling pretty humbled
I may be the slowest guy on the mountain . . . . but . . . . I'm on the mountain!
Jimm, Nice shooting. That 300 WM load shoots very well for me also. 190 MK and 73 grains Re22 did this the other day. Maybe a little luck involved also since it was shot at 732 yards Cowman
What rig are you spittin'em out of ? A ten shot string with that round gave a sd of 13 . Since my ladder test showed a node that ran from 71.9 to 73.8( it ended there ) I will be loading and testing the 73.8 and 74. grain loads for sd as well. perhaps it will improve . I realize that 20 or 30 shot strings are really necessary to get accurate sd numbers , its just that if I cant get a reasonably low figure out of ten shots its not likely to improve with more .
Bob , just send me or Cowman your " floor sweepings " we'll put it to good use [image][/image]
Jimm, My 300 is a trued up 700 LA by Wayne Forshee with a Krieger barrel, Dakota bottom metal, Jewell trigger and nestled in a McMillan HTG stock. It has proven to be a great shooter, and would make a nice LR elk rig if I ever get to go. I've got a NXS 5.5-22 with the R2 reticle on it now, great scope and easy to use. I just sent off my barrel to have a break installed. I shoot by myself and wanted to be able to see my shots a bit better. Nice work on the load development, Jimm. I do have a pound of H1000 that I want to work up a load for also. Re22 is super in the 300 but I wanted to see if I could find a load with a little more tolerance to temp extremes. Cowman
Try 74.9 grs of that H1000 under a 220smk. That load gives 2800 fps and good (.750@ 300) accuracy . At 1500 that load should be surpassing the 190 smk 100 fps and 140 or so ftlbs. The way both our 300"s like that 190 re22 load there is a good chance yours will
like the 220smk h1000 load as well. If you do try it post your results. BTW how long is your bbl ?
