I shot up to 86gr H1000 with the 230 OTM. I got faint ejector markes there. I'm going to load up some more with 86gr. My 3 shot group was right at 1/2MOA at 300. Ill play with seating depth a little bit and see what it can do. My chrono didn't like the sun, it was realy early, so I dind't get any good velocities.

I know this post is getting old but I have not seen much about the 230's . They are my new favorite rum bullet with 81.5gr of H1000 and rem 9 1/2 primers 3.7 coal. Average speed is 3040fps and accuracy with the otm's was .218 the hybrid target's with same load average group was .380. Has anybody else had good luck with them?

After extensive load testing with the 230 hybrid target in my 27" Rum, 87.5 grains of H1000 produces 2980 with around 13ES and 7SD. 88 grains of Retumbo produced 2950 with high ES. These are both hot loads but at roughly the same chamber pressures, the H1000 is superior in this rifle. Unfortunately the 230's won't shoot under 1 MOA consistently in my rifle. My theory is that my 1in10 is not quite enough to fully stabilize at this velocity at sea level, at least that is my gunsmith's opinion. I realize Berger says 1in10 is ok. The 215 hybrids are in the mail, I'll see if they work better. Velocity at distance will be better with the 215's and they will be real close energy wise to the 230's.

Tumbleweed, we just started working up loads with 230 OTM hybrid in one of my old accumarks I sold to a friend. We found the accuracy node to be right at 94 gr of H-1000 in a factory 30-378 Wby which is about 2880 fps. This was at 1300 ft. alt. The rifle, even with Wby freebore, shot 1/2 moa right off the batt. This is a 26" 1 in 10 twist. My point is you may want to drop back a bit on the charge and see if it helps.

Thanks for the response Jeff, I always appreciate your input. I have thought of this too and suspect I may be pushing things too hard to acheive the accuracy I require. I felt for the 230 to be a real advantage (worth switching to) over my 210VLD at 3120fps I would need to have it run at least 2950 and apparently that's just too much to ask for in my rifle with sub .5MOA accuracy. I am looking forward to the 215 hybrids arriving any day and seeing if they like to shoot in the 3100fps range.
