230 gr berger in a 30-378 with Retumbo

I'm getting some 230 gr Bergers shipped to me and they should be here next week. If anyone has any load data for me with Retumbo or Re 25 I'd really appreciate it. It's a stock Accumark. Thank you for your replies. PaLuke

Thanks for the reply. Do you think H50 BMG is a better power for the 230's? It's a factory 26" barrel. I don't have a Berger manual. What would be the starting load with the Retumbo. Thanks again. PaLuke

Re: 230 gr berger in a 30-378 with Retumbo

My load with 50 BMG is not max. That I do know. I can go higher but that group is under one half inch. If you're wanting to use retumbo I would start at 98 gr and work up to maybe 102 or 103???

My rifle is a Sako trg-s with also a 26" barrel

Thanks again for the reply, The only reason for Retumbo is that I'm having a hard time finding every powder except retumbo and I have probably 5 lbs.. When I find some H50BMG I'll pick some up and try it. Thanks again. PaLuke

Re: 230 gr berger in a 30-378 with Retumbo

I tried this combo in my stock accumark 30-378 and found that my max load was 105.0 gr of Retumbo with fed 215M primers...I would start well below and work up cause i have blown a few $3 cases along the way! I forget the velocity but it was well over 3k fps but I was not happy with the accuracy from my rifle, the best I could do was slightly over 1MOA.... I love the 230OTM in my 300Win mag and get sub MOA groups but I had it throated for them when I re-baralled the rifle.

Good luck, they will be a wind busting combination if they shoot good from your rifle, please post your results........
