Re: .220 swift loads

[ QUOTE ]
I need some recipes for my m77 .220 swift. Can anyone give me some so I can try?

[/ QUOTE ]

As some one above said they can be finicky, I agree.
However I have used up 3 barrels and I should know something, sometimes I wonder! I absolutely love this caliber, this I do know!!
If you use 39 grains of IMR 4064 or Reloader 15 plus or minus a grain work up in 1/10 grain you will find a node that works fairly well, if not you have a real problem with that particular gun.

    Re: .220 swift loads

Hello Swift one! I shot the bbl out of a 2-77's and a Savage in Swift with the following load:

    Win Brass
    fed 210
    50g Nosler Ballistic tip
43-44.5g of AA 2700 depending on the rifle
accuracy .350 or less at 100
    Velocity 4000 fps

The AA 2700 will give you much longer bbl life than IMR 4064 which proved to eat up the throat on the first 77 that I had.

this load also proved to shoot very well as the throat got longer in my rifles.

AA2700 and the 50's has not been discovered by Swift shooters, it is amazing!

    Good luck!

After all the posts here I must re mind you that it is a Swift try all the loads listed then make up your mind after trying them in YOUR GUN . A Swift is not a ONE powder ONE bullet type cartridge, if you dont have a sence of adventure opt for a .308 or 30-06 like the mainstream.

    Re: .220 swift loads

My swift loves 38g of IMR-4064. It produces .3" 3 shot groups at 100 yards, 2" 5 shot groups at 300 yards. It shoots 3825fps. Winchester case, Fed 210, OAL=2.7" This is a Ruger 77 Target. Also shoots the 52g A-MAX very well. Load testing proved that 37g of IMR-4064 puts 5 shots underneath a dime. IMR-4064 seems to be the ticket for my swift. I have tried RL-15, H-380, and IMR-4831. I have shot 40g VLC and 50 Vmax Moly Coats. The only powder my swift DID NOT like was RL-15. It consistently produced 1.5" groups while the rest were 1" or less.
