Re: 22-243?????

Hi i have a 22-250AI with a 6.8 twist barrel with the 90gr MatchKings i have to down load them in the 6.8 twist barrel so they do not blow up. The same barrel was chambered in 223 when new as a test of accuracy and velocity diferences with the exact barrel. The 223 and 90ge sierra's gave me a group .320 high and .685 wida at 300 yards and 4.1" high with 4 shots in 1" and 7.9" wide at 1000 yards all 5 shot groups. I have also shot the 90's out of an 8 twist in 22-250 and they worked perfectly. If i was you i would go with a 9 twist if you are going to shoot up to 80gr projectiles and an 8 twist if the 90's are on the menu. I also have a set of RCBS 22-243AI dies that i would be willing to sell if you do go for the 22-243AI.

Cheers Bill

Re: 22-243?????

That is the nice part. To form cases, you simply run them through the sizing die just like you would with fired cases. It is a one step deal that is no different than sizing a standard cartridge. Since you are only necking down one size, you don't need multiple steps, multiple dies, or fire forming. My dies are a Redding two die set. You are necking the case down so little, it doesen't feel any different than a normal sizing/depriming. It keeps the regular 243 Winchester shoulder so there is no fire forming in that aspect. I need to try the new 80gr Amax in my gun, but I hate to change anything with it since it shoots so good.

Re: 22-243?????

I appreciate all the good information. I believe I will go with cinch and varmint hunter on this one. The 75 to 80 sounds good with the plain old 22-243. Now all I need to do is build the gun. I like to build on sako actions but may try a Tikka 595 if I can find one. Thanks for all of your input. RH
