210 Berger's In 300 WSM

I was just wondering what the COAL is on average everyone is loading for the 210 Berger bullets in the 300 WSM. What loads and FPS you are getting for the best accuracy loads. Looking to get some imput on getting a load for 1200 yards. I know every gun is different and stuff just looking to get some feed back.

300 wsm should shoot them fine. You need to do a seating depth test it takes 24 rounds.

Step one take resized unprimed case cut slit in neck with dremmel tool insert 210 VLD start into neck just a bit. Now take dummy round and insert into rifle close bolt. open bolt extract round you now have a dummy round for your rifle and 210g VLD with the COAL.

Take mesurament of round for COAL. Now you need to load 24 rounds of ammo.

1st 6 rounds are .010 off the lands
2nd 6 are .030 off the lands
3rd 6 are .050 off the lands
4th 6 are .130 off the lands

Shoot four six round groups at 200 yards. You may need to use some factory ammo to get your group close on the paper before you shoot for groups. The result will be one group is much much tighter than the other four and this is your VLD starting point it will save you ammo in the load development process

I did a little load development for 210 Bergers in my Sako Finnlight 300 WSM. With 65.5 gr of RL17 I was able to push them to about 2935 (24 3/8" bbl). The Bergers were seated to the lans. The promers showed very slight cartering but nO stiff bolt or any other pressure signs. I dont have their COAL recorded but the COAL for some HAT 180's I loaded in that rifle was 3.117, load about .050 off the lans and those bullets were of a similar shape and length as the Bergers. My rifle does have quite a long throat.

Just curious, what does cutting a slit into the neck do? does it just make the bullet slide into the case a little easier when you bolt it into the barrel?

I cut a slit so it goes in easy and dosent get stuck. You dont have to but if you get it stuck and your shooting a rifle with a brazed bolt handle and your realy pulling hard on it you could damage it.
