155 berger vld for .308

I am shooting a .308 winchester with a 20" heavy barrel. So far the bullets I have put through it shoot really well. I recently purchased some bergers and I was wondering where to start my loads using IMR 4064. Any information would be greatly appreciated. My current load is 110 gr. V-Max w/ imr powder. Thanks!

I use Noslers 155 grains HPBT custom comp, with very good results, and use 44.5 grains of imr4064 in a shilen Select match barrel 24 inches long with 2824 ft/s avg. with +/-4 ft/sec. data form berger almost matches mine.

I have almost 1/3 moa at 500 yards to shoot those metallic silhouettes.

there is a hickup in the deal with the imr 4064, it is somewhat temperature sensitive. sometimes with higher temps, I get a signs of high pressure from the primers...

but that is what I use. maybe its an O.K. load on your rifle.

I too have recently had a .308 built. I am loading with 44.5 gr of varget. I am not satisfied with this round. My groups at 300 yards are at about 1.5 inches with a flyer here and there. There was an article about seating the 155 vld from .010 jam to a whopping .120 jump. Good luck finding your load. I will let you know how things are progressing with mine.

mate, my best load is 44.8 gr of VARGET loaded to a COAL of 2.850" or just kissing the lands, win cases and primer doesnt seem to matter.

2830fps, extremely accurate, and Standard velocity deviation is excellent at only 2fps.

Give it a try, it works great in every .308 weve tried so far.

    .308 Win

With 150/155 Nosler BT and Sierra MK
47.0 of Varget............but had better results with IMR 4895 at 44.3 to 45 with 155 grain bullets in the 308 Win

    175gr Sierra matchking
    45.0 Of Varget

    180gr Nosler Accubond or BT
    44.2 of Varget

    168 Sierra MK
    46 to 45.8 of Varget

IMR 4895 @ 43.6 or IMR 4064 @ 43.5 Suggest using Fed 210M primers with IMR 4895 or IMR 4064 for best accuracy and FC brass

    CCI Br2 Primers
    WW Cases
