Re: 150 gr 270 Win loads?

I have used 57.5 grs. of H-4831 with a 150 gr. speer spitzer for years. I get around 2800 f.p.s. out of my 700 remington with a 22 inch barrel.I made my furthest kill with this load. Have been thinking about trying 7828 and H-1000. The 150 speer is the best shooting bullet out of my firle.

All of these loads are much too hot for my rifle. I reached pressure signs at 56 gr 4831. Maybe 150 gr bullets are not in the stars for me.

120 gr Barnes X at 3264 fps groups really well for me

My Dad's old load for the 130s used to shoot 1/2" consistently at 100 yards, but now all I can muster is 3/4-1". It may be close to needing a new barrel! I think a 280AI or 6.5-06AI may be the next version of this rifle. Time will tell! I have 500 130 gr CTBT to shoot first! Then time to consider new barrel.

Will R-22 and IMR 7828 work just as well in a 22" barrel as a 26" one or will the burn rate be a little to slow?

I shot some more loads today, playing with the data I got from your responses. The 130s shoot like poo, the 150s shoot like poo, and the 140 AB from an old ladder test shoot into .4". It looks like I will be shooting the rest of my Barnes then switching to the 140 AB (& NBT for cheaper practice). Thanks for the loads anyway. I'll stash them for my own information.
