150 gr 270 Win loads?

Anyone got a tried and true load for 150 gr bullets in 270 Win. My best load was with 4350, but my load data book was stolen. Go figure? Load only shot into 1.5" 4-shot group. I have tried MagPro, IMR 4831, IMR 4350, RL 19, RL 22, and AA2700. Any help would be appreciated.

I've had good results w/ H4831. 58 grns pushing Hdy SPIL 150s w/ R+P brass and WLR primers. That's a Max load so, start out alittle lower. It's consistently sub-moa at 100 and 200 in a sporter 22" tube Model 700. Good Close range deer load.

    Good Luck

I second the 58g H4831 with the 150g bullet. Be forewarned that the 150g bullet has a very tough jacket with some brands of bullets compared to the 130g. I encourage you to try different primers, because you will see a big difference in grouping based on primer choice.

60 grains of IMR 7828 winchester brass with CCI 250 mag primers. Sierra 150 sbt's. I've gone as high as 61.8, but the cases get a light ding and very flat primers. I also found that the groups got the tightestwhen your not shooting the bullet at it's max for a given powder.

I'm a firm believer in finding the sweet spot powder. You have to spend time on a Chronograph. For the normal 270 I found that R-22 and IMR 7828 would yeild the highest speeds and accuracy in the 140 and 150 boat tails.

I tried H-1000 and R-25 and speed dropped off. The faster powders Like H-4831 and IMR 4831 would exceed the pressure limit before reaching the same speed as the R-22 and IMR7828

I just use a tall drop tube to pack the powder better and 60 grains with the heavy bullets is a compressed powder load.

4350 is excellant for 100 and 110 grain SP bullets for varmint shooting

I have recovered some of the bullets I am shooting, 150 gr Partition Golds, and the bullets had expanded nicely at 100 yards from a MV of 2750 fps. The jackets are very heavy. They are thicker in fact than my 338 NPs.

I guess I'll have to go get some H4831 then. After I try the 7828 load! I have that powder already.

What kind of velocities are ya'll getting? I have been up to 2970 fps with MagPro, but I had lots of powder residue left over and accuracy sucked.

My goal was to get in between 308 and 30-06 velocities. The bullets should penetrate much better due to their SD, and they should have a better trajectory. Thanks for all the help.

I've never bought 130's for .277 Very inferior SD & BC. I'm also unclear as to why they make the 135 grain match. At up to 600 yard shoots the 140's and 150's always performed better. I have not got around to testing my 169.5 VLD's out of my 29 inch AI

My standard 270 is also a 26 inch barrel and 3000 fps can be attained with 150's

I think a 155 SMK would be pretty sweet. Should be able to get 2900 fps with a standard 270. BC should hover around .550. That run with my 300 SAUM.
