Sorry guys, newbie question here. As far as I can tell, a 338 edge is a 300 RUM necked up o 338. So why not just get a 338 RUM?

Theres a bit of a capacity gain using the 300 case as its a little longer than the 338 case.

the 7, 300, and 375 RUM's all use the same case. the 338RUM is a little shorter.by about .092 i think.

what would be the reasoning for doing that? whay would they make one different than the rest?

and isnt the edge also expanded out like a 338-300rumAI?

It had somethign to do with the cannelure on 338" bullets I believe. The EDGE is not an AI.
