what to do w/ your free

I was out shooting my .308 and I was laying in the prone position and using my pack as a rifle rest. I found myself not knowing what to do w/ my freehand. I finally ended up using it under my cheeck as a rest. Can anyone tell me is there any hand position diagrams out there? I'm new to this so anything would be useful. Thanks \\m//

I swear, one of the reasons I shoot better with a rear bag is that it gives me something to occupy my left hand with and keep it off the gun.
