Varmint Rifle

Planning on building up a varmint rifle and want to know if the Remington m700 would be the best choice of sporting rifle actions.

Re: Varmint Rifle

...rem 700 is by far the most popular...on average, the older actions are preferred over the newer ones... I would start with a new Rem vls and go from there...will give you a chance to shoot immediately and maybe begin upgrading project in the off season... thanks

If you are buying it for the action only, then I would buy an ADL, junk the rest and build up from there. That will save you a little money over a Sendero or VLS.

Re: Varmint Rifle

Old Varmint, I just bought a .308 Rem. VSLH for just such a purpose.

But after shooting it today, I might have to suffer awhile longer and keep it stock!! Holy cow!! Under a 1/2" moa at 100 yards, out of the box. Suits me. It can only get better!!...Check them out..sakofan..

Re: Varmint Rifle

Thanks guys, what you have said has confirmed my gut feeling, will look for a model 700 ADL in good condition. My gunsmith has worked on 700s, model 70s, Sako's & weatherby's so should not be a problem. Will only choose one of the others if I can't find a decent 700.
